"Can we just forgive and forget?"

That is how I interpreted GMA's 7 o'clock breaking news tonight. I rarely talk about and contemplate the shallow goings-on of Philippine politics, but I just can't help but be disappointed at her--firstly, for being unbelievably vague about the "Hello Garci" tapes issue(confessing yet not revealing anything) and secondly, for fooling people that a special news announcement on primetime TV would alleviate the issue. If she accomplished anything at all tonight, it was that she proved how callous she is on issues that directly concern us Filipinos. She showed indifference not only on the Gloriagate issue, but also on her (and her family's) alleged involvement in the jueteng scandal.

Though I consider GMA a poor leader, we don't have any recourse but to bear the next five years under her leadership. Tin was right, we're better off with GMA, than oust her and have Kabayan Noli as president. We're currently in a lose-lose situation: GMA's retention would mean years of continued inflation, increasing unemployment, and diaspora of talented and productive Filipinos, while GMA's oust would make Philippines more unstable, politically and economically, under the leadership of an incompetent TV personality.

But I'm keeping my hopes up. Despite my father's urging, I wanted to stay here in the Philippines, just to prove that, hell, we can still live and not merely survive. I just hope that my and every Filipino's hope will not be crushed by the "ugly family" pigging themselves out in Malacanang.

We can forgive, but can we afford to forget?

And there we were a few years ago ousting a president and replacing him with someone we actually thought would be a lesser evil. And we actually thought we were doing our country a favor then! I am torn thinking that maybe the ouster did not make any difference after all. What is your take out on this, Chin?

I still do not know how to react to this issue. All I know is that I feel a great pain and disgust.

Somehow, this is not how I expected the world to be when I grow up.

Now, how can we contest to the oldies our case that "hell, we can still live and not merely survive" in this country. And yes, I do hope (very hard), too that "every Filipino's hope will not be crushed by the 'ugly family' pigging themselves out in Malacanang."

i don't think we need to forget. it may be cliche but our memories of the past, however bad, still rises to the surface. especially political ones. funny thing is, here in the US, there's this secret agent who is coming clean now when he's already in his 80's and telling everyone he was the one who was behind the watergate secret. basta some historical political event here before...parang ganun lang din...
haay. life.news.

you're right in feeling pain and disgust after GMA's "sorry speech." Unfortunately (and shame on me (maybe us), too) the ouster was a result of doing something too soon. Nagpadala tayo sa mga nangyari, and now we're suffering from it. Though I tend to disagree with my father's views, I have to admit that she's the worst president by far. Prices did not increase skyscraper-high until she took office. I can tell you more about her, but I know you get the point, especially now that you're employed. You're allotting almost Php 2,000 off your salary on benefits and taxes that you're not benefiting (or at least would not benefit) from. Tama lang na pinalayas nya asawa nya sa US, she's danger enough for our country without her "stock."

'yun nga mahirap e...people realize too late that they could've made a difference by being true to the people. sometimes they do it on purpose, parang "huling alas" nila when things go wrong in their lives. balitaan mo ko kung ano sinasabi nila diyan ha. i want to know kung ano view ng mga Pinoy diyan about this Gloriagate scandal. miss you!

Hay nakakapagod talaga pag-usapan ang politics. But we can't help but take part in it, can we?

I cannot quite the decide, too who's the worst president among all the presidents I've seen which are not many. But what I am sure of is that hell, she's worse!

And what's all this "sacrifice" issue about her family moving out of the country. Damn! I honestly do not think it is sacrificing but saving their asses from all the wrong things they've done. It makes me really angry to hear that they are fucking sacrificing. I think I am going to puke. Maybe they should look out their window and see the people out there who work their asses off only to be robbed off the benefits they should be getting.

according to malacanang's press person whatever dude:
"A contrite, focused president is the best leader the country can have at this point in time....

like, whatever!

and as for the first gentleman running away like a guilty dog, he is exactly that: a guilty dog. harharhar.

Sabi nga ni susan roces when asked kung tama bang umalis si first gentleman:

"Hindi ko alam ang kasaysayan ng kanilang pagmamahalan."

Hahaha, she's so funny!

Actually, i don't really want GMA to stay as president. Yes i would prefer her over Noli, but should a fair and honest investigation and trial [something we desperately need ASAP] prove that she is guilty of cheating she definitely cannot stay in her position. [1.it should be shown that Fils won't stand for such dishonesty from ANY "public servant" 2. she won't be an effective leader anymore anyway ]

if all goes well, then the next problem would be having to contend with the instability, trying to decide what to do next and who should be the best replacement...all within the the parameters of our laws and institutions. gud luk.

...oh, and i just wanted to say i definitely don't want susan roces to be some kind of caretaker govt leader despite how i kinda love her fiery speech ;)
