Bitten by the poetry bug (Tin's influence)

Because I have little time to rant or rave, but just enough time to cut and paste some of my favorite poems :)

Dream Deferred
by Langston Hughes
(
Tin has J. Lacaba's Tagalog translation of this poem)

What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.

Or does it explode?

I'm not good at "reading" poems :( *sadness*

oo nga, ok nga yung english/original version. and true, no time for ranting so let's just cut and paste ;)

i'm not that good in "reading" poems either [i am partial to simple straightforward fare..but also appreciate occasional simpler revolutionary forms e.g. "ako ang tula"] and i may be a bit too sexually repressed so that i'm sensing erotic overtones in "she being Brand". hehe. watchatink?... i can't make sense of grasshoppers at all.

ako rin naman, di ko naintindihan grasshoppers. i think cummings was just playing around with the poem's structure :)
