"First time mo, miss?"

"Opo."

Kapag may matindi kang pagnanasa....

drool, beybeh, drool...

We win some, we lose one

Last Saturday, UP lost to UE, 56-51. UP's standing is now 3-1, that day being the first time UP Maroons broke its winning streak this season. UP lost because:

1. Jonah, Arlene & I watched the game, "jinxes" who weren't able to watch UP's first 3 games, supporting the team when it was only showing signs of "life." (It didn't help that we were speculating about Maroons' performance before the game started: "'di kaya matalo UP ngayon?" Adding the inevitable, "it's bound to happen, after 3 straights wins ba naman e.").

2. If the game was Quidditch and we were in the world of Rowling's Hogwarts, I would say the Maroons players were hexed (by Hermione).

3. UE's #19 was Viktor Krum in disguise. (Sorry guys, can't help it, post-HP6 effect).

4. Referee Mang Kal-BOO! gave almost all his calls to UE's favor. (Luto! Luto!)

5. Talagang jinx lang kami (with the exception of Jocel, who faithfully followed each UAAP game the Maroons played for this season).

Jocel the "basketball guru"; Me & Jonah, the "basketball idiots"; and Arlene the "guru's apprentice" during the UP vs. UE game at Araneta

The "mini pep squad" obstructing Jocel's view of the game. Nobody sat behind the "mini pep squad." Theory ni Jocel, may ambitions sila of entering the pep squad...hmmmm...

The UP Pep Squad gearing themselves for their stunning, amazingly-graceful headstand (which, not so coincidentally, the UE pep squad also copied--er, executed).

Just when we thought the Maroons were going to redeem themselves in the last period, Hermione (not seen in the picture) once again hexed the players, upsetting UP's winning streak.

Nakakainis!

Isa ako sa mga nakigulo sa Greenbelt and Glorietta yesterday para bumili ng latest installment ni Rowling sa kanyang HP series, Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince. However, I am still re-reading HP5 (kasi I forgot some details which might turn up sa HP6, mahirap na baka di ko maintindihan), kaya kahit tapos na ni J-anne 'yung book, di pa rin ako nagpa-kuwento, basta sabi niya nakakabitin daw, sobra.

Bad trip lang talaga ako kasi while I'm Net surfing, I came across a friend's friend's Friendster page and that friend posted....

....who died in HP6.

BAD TRIP! (@%$###@@ spoiler 'yan!!!!!!!!!!)

Deception at the lowest level

Whenever I check my Friendster account, I take time to look at some of the messages posted in my Bulletin Board. I don't mind receiving endless surveys, but what I DO MIND is the deceptive, tricky way in which people create different subject lines to send Christian messages. Here're examples of these irritating subject lines:

Usher killed in a car crash
So you opened this because it said "Usher Killed in Car Crash!!!", but if it said Jesus Christ our Lord would you have opened it? It's your choice. If you aren't ashamed to do this, repost and put your name onthe bottom.

Sex Video
So you opened this because you thought this is about a sex video? But if it said Jesus Christ would you have opened it?

What irritates me most is the self-righteous tone of these messages. Its creator/s assumed that people are trivial, hence the use of subject lines they think would appeal to the reader. When you open the message, it self-righteously tells, even accuses, you of not opening the message had it not been titled as such. And the message orders you, if you have a conscience, to join in the list of people who are "not ashamed of Jesus Christ" and repost the message to your contacts. Kung ang intention ng message is to be unashamed of JC, then why resort to such trickery? Walang pinagkaiba ang mga message na'to sa chain letters: they frighten and embarrass people to compel them to spread an otherwise well-intentioned message. You don't have to be fooled then reprimanded just to follow an order or request to do something.

The message is good, but the packaging sucks.
